Sun Peaks Wedding
This fabulous Sun Peaks Wedding, photographed in the mountains of British Columbia was a wonderful evening of winter fun in the snow. It is the dream of many a bride to get married under snow flakes in such a place as the Sun Peaks Resort in Kamloops, B.C.
This winter wedding at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel was so much fun. Jim & Sarah and their families were such fun that it made the cool crisp day so warm and inviting. Their ceremony was held at a private cottage minutes from the base of the mountain and we followed along by taking their formals throughout the town, under the covered bridge and in the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel which is where their reception was held.
There was much excitement about popping the champagne, and I just love the bride’s reaction! One of my favourite times of the wedding day is when we do a first look with the father of the bride. There is often much shown emotion and it gives a beautiful look into this family and the love they share for each other. It is after all the last time he will see his daughter as a single woman. We wanted to do a different take on the covered bridge which is photographed so often here so we backed up and got a great view of the surrounding trees and mountains, then we lit them up with a flash and orange gel which allowed us to make the surrounding area even more blue. This is one of my favourite photos we have taken this year. Each the bride and the groom are reflected in glass on either side, they are both lit with flash to bring down the relative ambient light and the image is finished with a bit of old world charm. The chandelier in the entrance to the Grand Hotel is such a beautiful statement piece. Walking out of the reception we noticed these lights along the hallway and noted how perfectly they led down the hall. So after a discussion with the Grand’s staff asking them to move away a buffet line (thank you) we had a clear hallway and all we had to do was light up the back wall with a gridded gelled domed flash, pose our couple to silhouette beautifully off that light and add a reflection to the bottom. Thank you so much for having us as part of your wedding day.
